FAQ's

What does ECE stand for?

The three upper-case letters used to stand for the name of the company, Einkaufs-Center-Entwicklung.

Founded by Werner Otto in 1965, the company operated in lots of fields from the beginning. Because planning and building offices had nothing to do with the company name “Einkaufs-Center-Entwicklung” (shopping centre development), and because using the term “shopping centre” at an office construction site might have raised a few eyebrows, the company very soon became ECE Projektmanagement. Or, quite simply, ECE.

What does ECE do?

ECE develops, realises, leases and manages innovative shopping centres, offices, specialised real estate and city districts such as Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz or in Augsburg. ECE has specialists in all the fields relating to real estate – all under one roof, from developing the initial idea to long-term management.
